Buying Guide

• 1Dynamic mics (SM57, SM58, etc.) are nearly indestructible and buying used is very safe.
• 2Condenser mics are more delicate — check the diaphragm for damage by doing a quiet whisper test and listening for distortion.
• 3Ask if the mic has been dropped. Dynamic mics handle drops well; condensers often don't.
