The Dean Metalman was introduced by Dean in 2010 and remains in production today. Dean has been building instruments in the United States since 1977. You may also see this listed as "Metalman ML", "Metalman V" — they refer to the same instrument.

Buying Guide

• 1Check the truss rod adjustment — bass necks take more tension than guitar necks and are more prone to developing bows.
• 2Test the electronics with the bass plugged into an amp. Active basses should have a fresh battery for testing.
• 3Inspect the nut slots — bass strings can wear deep grooves that cause buzzing on the first few frets.
