Best Used Guitar Amps Under $300

Under $300 — Updated April 2026

Under $300, the best value in guitar amps is overwhelmingly in the digital/modeling space. The Boss Katana 50 MKII dominates this price range for good reason — it sounds incredible, has built-in effects, and can go from bedroom volumes to small gig volumes.

If you want a tube amp at this price, look for the Bugera V5, Monoprice 15W, or the Fender Blues Junior III (if you are patient and find a deal). Small tube amps in the 5-15 watt range deliver authentic tone at volumes that will not destroy your hearing.

Solid-state and modeling amps at this price include the Fender Champion series, Orange Crush series, and Line 6 Spider. While purists may prefer tubes, modern modeling amps deliver 95% of the tone at a fraction of the cost and maintenance.

Buyer's Checklist

  • 1Test with your own guitar if possible — amps respond differently to different pickups
  • 2Check the speaker for tears, cone damage, or rubbing sounds
  • 3Test all channels, effects, and switching functions
  • 4For modeling amps, check if firmware is up to date
  • 5Listen for excessive fan noise on solid-state amps at low volumes
